Finding beauty in Imperfection S/S 21

Yanhong Chen

2020

My concept Finding beauty in Imperfection explores the idea that beauty lies within the imperfections in life.

I have naturally dyed my fabrics using Chinese tea and madder roots and I have embroidered running stitches to symbolise the Japanese Art of Kintsugi where gold lacquer is used to repair cracked and broken pottery. Raw edges on my garments emphasise the appreciation of flaws.
