Exostructures Trans-seasonal 21

Milo Ellwood

2020

Exostructures looks at how we navigate the presentation and perception of our bodies as a microcosm of our selves. The structures, both social and physical, that determine how a body is read are a comfort for some and a cage for others. Exostructures investigates the semiotics of how fashion objects are identified and interpreted through the lens of gender.

Garments interact with the body to offer a gendered presentation through which society comprehends a cultural position. Exostructures attempts to subvert these mechanisms by challenging the viewer to remove a gender assumption from their perception of the body.
