Nicole research and teaching methodology emphasize practice-led research, encouraging students to challenge conventional fashion models and engage with critical, expanded fashion practices. Nicole fosters a hands-on learning environment where students explore their ideas in three-dimensional form, pushing the boundaries of traditional garment design. By integrating traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technologies in CAD patternmaking and digital design, she guides students in developing innovative designs while engaging in critical fashion discourse and sustainability.
In addition to her academic role, Nicole is the founder of NVV(R) World, a multifaceted platform that explores new modes of sustainable design through garment-making practice, events, exhibitions, retail, and educational workshops. Through NVV(R) World, Nicole’s research focuses on the participatory and performative nature of fashion, exploring critical and expanded fashion practice through garment making.
Nicole holds a BA in Fashion Design (Hons.) from RMIT University. Her work has been featured in New Zealand Fashion Week and other notable exhibitions.
