Dr Amanda Sterling

Lecturer

Design Innovation

Dr Amanda Sterling is a lecturer in the Master of Business Innovation and Leadership programme.

Outside of Whitecliffe, she runs a leadership consulting company, helping workplaces remove barriers for women into leadership roles.

Much of her work involves working with senior leaders to question assumptions about leadership and build their capabilities for resilience, adaptability, and critical thinking.

Earlier in her career, she worked in organisational development (leadership development and culture change) for global and trans-Tasman companies.

She completed a PhD exploring the ongoing underrepresentation of women in leadership roles in New Zealand and what can be done about it. Her research focused on the experiences of mothers in leadership and what this reveals about opportunities for greater inclusion.

In her personal time, she enjoys reading novels, gardening, and playing Minecraft with her 8-year-old son.
