Each year, the Resene Colour of Fashion project invites Whitecliffe Fashion students to see colour not just as a material but as a story. From initial sketches to runway-ready garments, this collaboration with Resene celebrates creative risk-taking, personal expression, and the journey of bringing ideas to life.
This year’s theme, Colours of Change, challenged students to explore transformation within themselves, their communities, and the world around them. Whether inspired by nature, personal milestones, or cultural heritage, each design offers a unique perspective on what it means to evolve and adapt.
Working with Resene’s newest fashion shades, students developed original garments that reflect their creative process and technical skill.
Some drew on personal memories and significant life events. Others looked to the natural world or historical references for inspiration. Every piece demonstrates the power of colour to communicate emotion, spark dialogue, and inspire change.
