Whitecliffe invites you to our first Graduate Exhibition for the year. We start off the exhibition series with our BFA (Hons) and MFA students.
Below is an example of some works on display.
False Beginner
Ana Garcia
Moments of a migrant’s life are paused and revisited, taken apart and disrupted, revealing their effects across generations, place, and culture. Looking through the eyes of a new generation migrant everything is not what it once seemed. The small, unquestioned moments and motives that make up a life are now windows into the societal influences and structures that surround our modern world.
Taurapa (Phase one)
Te Ara Minhinnick
In a marae context, the waharoa is a gateway between visitor and host. It is the first point of entry as a visitor walks through towards an Iwi, a tribe of people and the protocols of the Iwi’s whenua, ancestral homelands.
In Defence of Consumption
Giulio Laura as OpenCo.
Consumption is the utilisation of any objects in whatever state it may be in. A counter gesture against disposal, rather than throwing something out at the point of obsolescence: repair, or break objects down into parts that may be used to make something else. Consuming is problem-solving a way to rejuvenate objects if broken down, useless, or out of date.
We hope to see you there.
