Step into Whitecliffe’s School of Fine Arts for a two-hour Contemporary Drawing workshop with artist and Senior Lecturer, Matt Ellwood.
In this hands-on session, you’ll experience what it’s like to work in a Fine Arts drawing studio. Guided by one of New Zealand’s leading drawing practitioners, you’ll explore:
Translating printed photography into charcoal drawings
Sustained realism techniques
Quick mark-making exercises
Approaches to working with text and image
All materials will be provided. Students are welcome to bring printed photographic imagery of their choice, or use imagery supplied on the day.
Matt Ellwood is an award-winning artist with 30 years of experience in the arts sector and 18 years at Whitecliffe. His works have been featured in major exhibitions, and he brings a wealth of insight from his career as both an artist and educator.
