Design Innovation

Aida Shahbazi is a lecturer in the Master of Business Innovation and Leadership programme. She is a PhD Candidate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Auckland, with over 16 years of academic and industry experience. Her work focuses on design thinking, innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-connected learning. She has previously taught at the University of Auckland, contributed to interdisciplinary research in design, technology, and sustainability, and brings practical experience from co-founding a design firm and leading real-world training and innovation projects.

Aida is passionate about creativity, courage, and real-world learning. Her journey from design practice and entrepreneurship into teaching and doctoral research reflects her belief that education should be practical, innovative, and transformative. She enjoys working across disciplines, building connections between industry and academia, and supporting students to become confident, future-focused leaders.
