Creative Art Therapies

Susan Knaap is the Postgraduate Diploma Coordinator and Lecturer in Pōneke, Wellington. She completed her Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapy (Clinical) in 2023 and is excited to once again be part of the community and learning environment that deeply shaped her own journey.

Susan began her career after completing a B.Soc.Sci in Psychology in the early 1990s, working as a social worker and counsellor within a hospital setting. She later spent many years at The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art as both a student and staff member, where she tutored creativity classes and mentored distance-delivery students alongside other roles.

She is passionate about the intersection of creativity and wellbeing, particularly how creative processes support self-awareness and a sense of belonging. Susan is committed to an embodied psycho-spiritual approach to life and learning, honouring the sacred interconnectedness of self within the more-than-human world.
