Year 3 BFA Fashion Design major, Sean Cai won the Hawes and Freer Award for the top range research, concept and design portfolio.
Cai received a $500 prize by Hawes and Freer owner Trevor Hookway, to go towards fabric of his choice for his tailored collection. This will feature in the Whitecliffe Fashion Show in November.
Hawes and Freer, which was established in 1922, specialises in high quality European fabrics and trimmings. The company grew during the 1990s by expanding its wholesale division and supplying to leading New Zealand garment manufacturers and designers.
