The inaugural Air New Zealand Whitecliffe Art Competition has been won by Fine Arts student Anna Sharman who is currently in her fourth and final year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Whitecliffe.
“Kiwis in LA” is an exciting, promotional event that has been running for four years and show cases the work of thirty other Kiwi artists and craftspeople living in LA. The event also includes entertainment by Tioata Kapa Haka group and a night of tasting New Zealand made wines, cheeses, and ice cream.
This year the organisers decided to invite a contribution from a New Zealand Art School student and hence the collaboration between Whitecliffe and Air New Zealand was established.
Thanks to the support of Air New Zealand and the Greg Whitecliffe Memorial Charitable Trust Anna will fly to Los Angeles for the grand opening of the Kiwis in LA Art Show and Wine Tasting.
The prize also includes a visit to the Paul Getty Museum and a day of fun at Disneyland.
Many thanks to Vicki Tyler of “Kiwis in LA” who has not only worked tirelessly to ensure Anna’s trip will be a success she has also arranged for a Kiwi family to look after Anna while she is there.
Anna Sharman’s winning entry will return to New Zealand as part of the Air New Zealand art collection and will hang in the first class lounge at Auckland airport.
