INTRODUCTION TO ADOBE PHOTOSHOP®

WEEKEND INTENSIVE

TUTOR: PAUL SHADBOLT

A two-day Introduction to Adobe Photoshop.

This course will introduce beginners to Adobe Photoshop software and its features, and will be of particular interest to digital photographers wanting to edit their images post-photography and prepare them for print.

The course will run for two consecutive days over the weekend and will show you how to get around Photoshop's workspace, change the size and quality of an image, work with layers, filters, effects and combine images, how to make selections, retouch an image and edit your own photos.

The course will deliver presentations demonstrating the features and various techniques of Photoshop, as well as setting practical hands-on tasks and small projects that will be supervised by your tutor in class.

The demonstrations, daily tasks and small projects will cumulate into a final project on the last day where you will be able to utilise your new skills to manipulate and edit an image suitable for high quality print.

At the completion of the course, the students will have a strong understanding of the potential of Adobe's Photoshop that will allow them to create their own work as well as setting a solid foundation for further self-directed learning.

Note:

You do NOT need to bring your computer to this class.

Please ensure you enrol with a valid email address.

Course material and hand-outs will be provided to students during the course.

INTRO TO DRAWING WEEKEND INTENSIVE

TUTOR: PETRA LUDVIGSON

This class is designed for both beginners new to drawing, and for students who would like a refresher on the fundamentals of drawing.

Through a combination of theory, technical instruction and fun practical lessons, students will explore a range of subjects including still life, life drawing, how to draw faces, landscapes and drawing ‘plein air’.

Through these exercises, students will learn about looking and drawing what we see, different ways to make marks, creating shape and form, light and shadow, negative spaces, perspectives, and basic composition.

Detailed handouts will be provided along with exercises for students to further their development.

About Petra Ludvigson:

Petra Ludvigson is an abstract expressionist painter with a background in conceptual art. Starting her training at ASA in 1996 and graduating with a BVA from AUT in 2006, she has enjoyed a 20 yr+ relationship with the Auckland art world.

Utilizing line and texture, her work explores the female form as an abject location. Desire, objectification, expectation, possession, reproduction, power and control…. the female body becomes occupied and the self is leaked out.

Alongside her own art practice and teaching adult education, Petra runs art therapy groups for people living with dementia and adults with special needs.
