TUTOR: LINDA WOLF-HOLLOWAY
This course with Linda Wolf-Holloway is for 2D artists who are in need of a little critique and advice, and mostly in need of support in their art practice. It will allow students, who already have experience in 2D media (not limited to painting), to experiment, develop an enquiry, enrich their skills, and their confidence in their work with the support of an experience mentor and exhibiting artist.
Every time we start a new work we are venturing into the unknown, and it's difficult when we are alone in your studio, can’t see the way forward, and there’s no one to talk it through with.
There is a process of enquiry and mindfulness that can help you assess your work. Students will learn the questions to ask when they can’t find a way forward, can’t finish a work, or things just feel repetitive. Linda will work with each student to determine where they want their work to go, and whether their materials, techniques and habits are helping or hindering.
As a great starting point of the programme, each student will bring along a work or two that they like, and one that has lost the plot, to open a dialogue and find ways to move forward and make the most of the 6 weeks mentoring. The intention of the programme is also to apply what is learned during the critique and discussions with Linda and start a new body of work.
This course is ideal for students with previous experience in painting or with a personal art practice, who want assistance to examine their practice and push their own boundaries in a supportive environment.
The course comprises 30 hours of tuition and focuses on the students work in progress and practical exercises and discussion (critique/dialogue/analysing). It runs over 6 evening classes (6pm to 9pm) and culminates with a weekend practice (9.30am to 4.30pm both days) at the end of the 6 weeks.
THE 6 WEEKS COURSE WILL RUN FROM WEDNESDAY 7 MARCH TO WEDNESDAY 11 APRIL
AND ON SATURDAY 14 AND SUNDAY 15 APRIL.
EACH EVENING CLASS WILL START AT 6PM AND FINISH AT 9PM.
THE WEEKEND CLASSES WILL START AT 10AM AND FINISH AT 4.30PM BOTH DAYS (1/2 LUNCH BREAK - BYO)
