TUTOR: MARCELA DIAZ
In this course students will be encouraged to find their own way of expressing themselves through drawings, cultivate their unique drawing style and develop an idea, which will become a complete piece. Marcela will guide the students through different exercises during which they will define their style, environment and their imagery universe. Students will also be asked to consider a conceptual approach and find the best way to visually translate their ideas. They will finally bring it all together in a final piece, and consider ways of displaying it via an e-zine or a printed publication. This is the perfect illustration course for beginners and intermediate sketchers who have something to say and want to explore the images as an effective way to communicate.
THIS WEEKEND COURSE WILL RUN OVER 2 DAYS FROM SATURDAY 13 MAY TO SUNDAY 14 MAY FROM 9.30AM TO 4PM WITH ½ HOUR LUNCH BREAK (PLEASE BRING YOUR LUNCH)
About Marcela Diaz:
Marcela Díaz, from Colombia, started drawing when she was 25 after graduating in Industrial Design and became a Lecturer in Design. After an artist residency in Bogota, Colombia in 2010, she became a full time free-lance illustrator. Marcela’s work is representative of her love for travelling and most of her art supplies have to fit in a small pencil case in a backpack: watercolour, ink and pencils. Her travel diaries illustrations, portraits and humoristic daily routine drawings can be seen in Wanaka - where she immigrated in 2013. Marcela has had several solo and group exhibitions in Colombia, Argentina and Wanaka.
