INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING

BANNER_DRAWING_01

TUTOR: LIAM GERRARD

THIS 6 WEEK COURSE WILL RUN EACH THURSDAY EVENING FROM 4 OCTOBER UNTIL 8 NOVEMBER.

EACH CLASS WILL START AT 6PM AND FINISH AT 9PM.

This course is a comprehensive introduction to drawing, ideal for beginners or anyone looking to refresh or improve their fundamental skills. Through a range of enjoyable drawing exercises, you will learn techniques for analysing and understanding this visual language.

Topics include; memory vs reality, negative spaces, lines & shared edges, tone, mark-making, media experiments, perspective & proportion, self-directed projects, and an introduction to life drawing.

Observational drawing is closely connected to the basics of perception, and with practice, this class will aim to strengthen general skills such as; attentiveness, patience and improvisation. The majority of classes will provide objects and images for drawing but for some exercises, students are encouraged to bring source material (objects or images).
