TUTOR: PEETI LAMWILAI
THIS 6-WEEK COURSE WILL RUN EACH WEDNESDAY EVENING FROM 8 MAY UNTIL 12 JUNE
EACH CLASS WILL START AT 6PM AND FINISH AT 9PM
Animation is everywhere around us — in our homes, schools, workplaces, practically anywhere with a screen. It is an art form that is continuously evolving alongside technology itself, and offers us the possibility to bring our imagination to life.
This six-week course introduces students to the fundamental understanding and technical skills surrounding the practices of animation. Students will have the opportunity to explore with a range processes related to time-based media, both traditionally and digitally. The course begins with conversations around the basic theory and mechanics used in industry-level animation processes. Students are also guided through observational and drawing skills via practical exercises that will help shape the realisation for principles of character design and effective storyboarding processes.
At the end of the course, students will have developed through a series of produced animated works a well-informed awareness for creative possibilities enabled by the moving image platforms. Some key projects that students will be assigned to work on during the course include stop motion photography and frame-by-frame animation.
You do NOT need to bring your computer to this class. Computer & software are provided.
Please ensure you enrol with a valid email address. Course material and hand-outs will be provided to students during the course via email.
