The winners of the annual Year 4 Newmarket Window Display competition have been announced. Judged on the creative use of visual communication, proportion and balance to produce impactful and aesthetically pleasing displays, the students exhibited their work in the windows of Newmarket boutiques.
This year Richard Nieper of Drapers Fabrics sponsored the first-place prize of $500 in fabric vouchers. The prize was awarded to Georgia Rahui for her display, TBC SS 18/19. Window Display artist and judge, Ton van der Veer was impressed with Georgia’s use of mirrors and how she created interaction between the mannequins, and commented that her display was engaging and intriguing.
Runner-Up, Bridie McCree was awarded the 2017 publication, London uprising: Fifty fashion designers, one city, edited by Tania Fares and Sarah Mower, sponsored by Ton van der Veer. Ton commended Bridie on the artistic concept and the strong contrast she created between the backdrop and the garment.
Displays were seen in many leading Newmarket boutiques including October Reign, Madder & Rouge, Taylor Boutique, Workshop, Muse, Drapers, Gregory and Allium Interiors.
