MFA Graduate Wins at 2018 Glaister Ennor Graduate Art Awards

MFA Graduate Wins at 2018 Glaister Ennor Graduate Art Awards Mish O’Neill has won the Barfoot and Thompson Prize ($3,000.00) at the Glaister-Ennor Graduate Art Awards. Her work Kawerau (The Remarkables) 5 January 2018.10.35 – 11.05am, 2018 is one of a series of camera obscura photographs produced as part of her final MFA degree exhibition in January this year.

The Glaister-Ennor Graduate Art Awards are held annually and are open to recent grads of both Honours and Master’s degree programmes from the following Auckland art schools: AUT, Elam, Whitecliffe, and Unitec.

The judges this year were Te Uru Contemporary Art Gallery Curator Ioana Gordon-Smith and Sanderson Contemporary Art Gallery Manager Adrienne Schierning.

In addition, Mish was also awarded the Glaister-Ennor Staff Choice valued at $500. 

Each school is asked to nominate up to four artists. Four Whitecliffe MFA grads were nominated for the awards; Mish O’Neill, Monique Lacey, Olly King and Priscilla Hunter. Their work is on show as part of the exhibition of all the finalists at Sanderson Contemporary Art, Kent Street, Newmarket, until July 29.
