The recipient of the Top Year Three Range Research Concept and Design Portfolio Award sponsored by Hawes and Freer is Blair Wheeler with his range titled It Ain’t Hot In Hell It’s Fucking Freezing. The range is based on the race to reach the South Pole by Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen, focusing on the clothing and equipment used on the exhibition and comparing this to clothing and gear used by 21st century Polar explorers.
Whitecliffe sponsor Hawes and Freer specialise in high quality European fabrics and trimmings and are an exclusive importer of wools from the House of Dormeuil. Blair will receive Dormeuil cloth to the value of $500 and an internship with Hawes and Freer. Blair intends to do his internship during the winter break and whilst there he will familiarise himself with the Dormeuil fabrics and make a suitable choice for his collection, which will be presented on the catwalk later this year.
