Whitecliffe is thrilled to congratulate recent graduate Grace Kim on winning the AgIdeas NewStar Competition. After submitting her fourth year BFA work, Grace was shortlisted with a group of 30 rising stars. Grace travelled to Melbourne last week to attend the conference, where she was announced as the winner of the Collie Print Trust Award. Grace receives a travelling scholarship that will see her mentored by a leading international design master at a studio of her choice. She will select the studio from a list of the most prestigious and high profile design studios in the world.
AgIdeas NewStar is a scholarhip and exhibition programme that is part of the AgIdeas International Design Week, one of the largest and most well-respected design festivals in the world. Grace says of her work, “I wanted to create type that could be read from multiple viewpoints, according to the viewer’s proximity and body position.” Since graduating from Whitecliffe in 2011 Grace has been working for Alt Group, a multidisciplinary design company based in Auckland.
