Matt Saunders, a Visiting Lecturer in Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University, was a guest for the seminar. Matt completed his undergrad studies at Harvard and gained his MA in painting at Yale. His work spans painting, photography and animation. Over the last decade Matt has primarily lived and worked in Berlin. During the seminar Matt delivered two lectures and took part in the assessment of all the MFA students. Matt was highly impressed with the structure of the Whitecliffe MFA programme; in particular the way that the course is delivered to a wide range of artists with sensitivity to their cultural contexts while retaining rigour and awareness of global art debate.
Visual artist Jason Baerg also visited for MFA week. Currently artist-in-residence at RMIT in Melbourne, the Canadian artist has presented at such international art events as the Luminato Festival and the Toronto International Art Fair. He is a regular presenter at major arts events and has sat on numerous art juries. Dedicated to community development, Jason Baerg continues to contribute to such national arts organisations as a board member for The National Indigenous Media Arts Coalition and the Independent Media Arts Alliance.
