Whitecliffe Year 3 BFA Fashion Design major, Trish Peng, is one of six finalists in The Libra Design Project, a brand new five-part online (TVNZ ON DEMAND) series starting on Wednesday 2 March at 5pm.
“Six aspiring fashion designers who are handy with a needle and thread will take up the challenge of putting their design skills to the test. This is a fantastic opportunity for these young, talented designers to show the fashion world they have what it takes to create outstanding clothing - they could be the next Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester or Francis Hooper! Each online episode will follow the six contestants, who will face weekly fashion challenges to test their design and sewing skills, in the bid to win the ultimate fashion prize - a fashion show displaying their mini clothing line, plus $1000 cash, and more! Viewers will have the chance to vote for their favourite designer each week, and will go into the draw to win prizes by doing so”
20 year old Trish feels very lucky to be in the final six and sees it as a great opportunity to show her designs to New Zealand. Trish has been a finalist in competitions such as Westfield Style Pasifika and Villa Maria Cult-Couture. She has also designed garments worn by Keisha Castle-Hughes to the Qantas film awards and fashion week.
