Information for New Zealand Domestic Students Paying by Student Loan

Please be aware that tuition fees must be paid within seven (7) days of your course start date. If you are paying your course fees by Student Loan, you will need to apply for this well in advance of your course start date. The best way to apply for your Student Loan is online The processing time for student loan approval is between 4 to 6 weeks.

StudyLink will need the following documents from you:

•    Proof of your identity and age. This could be your birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, a passport or a letter from Immigration New Zealand.

•    Proof of your New Zealand citizenship or residency. This could be your New Zealand birth certificate, your certificate of citizenship, residency or refugee documents or your passport.

•    Proof of your IRD number. This could be your Inland Revenue card or a letter or a Notice of Assessment from Inland Revenue. Hand-written proof must be stamped by Inland Revenue.

•    Evidence of your bank account. This could be a copy of a recent Bank Statement that names you as the account holder, or a letter from your bank stating all your bank details like your name, address, bank account number.

StudyLink needs to see your original documents or copies signed by an authorized person, who has seen the original, such as a StudyLink or Work and Income Staff member, an Officer of a Tertiary Education Provider, your school Principal or a Justice of the Peace (you can find one in your local area listed in the Yellow Pages). They must print their name and title on each copy and write on it that it is a true copy. StudyLink will return all original documents to you.

Students' Association


Whitecliffe Undergraduate Students' Association (WUSA) actively works to ensure students feel welcome by organising social and orientation activities. The Association is encouraged to work with management in ambassadorial roles. The Marketing Department can put you in touch with a member of the Association.

Changing an elective?

Students have one week after the start of the academic year to change electives without charge but must stay with their first term’s allocated elective. Thereafter any changes are made in the final week of Terms Two and Three. All enrolments and changes are made with the Undergraduate Programme Co-ordinator. Elective changes incur an administrative charge of $40 per elective change and this is payable upon submission of the change of elective form to the Admissions Office.

Parkyn Library

Open Monday to Friday from 8 am - 4.30 pm and on some occasions on a Saturday (watch out for notices). From here you can borrow books and manuals as well as photocopy documents and access international databases.

The Pearce Gallery

Throughout the year there are competitions and exhibitions by faculty, students, visiting artists and alumni.

On-street two hours free parking is available on Balfour Road, with limited all day free parking in the surrounding residential area.

Change of Address

If you change your address during your study please ensure that you complete a change of address form (available from Reception).
