Graduate Exhibition: Cut from the Cloth

Whitecliffe Master of Fine Arts Graduate Gerry Parke has an upcoming exhibition opening at Whitespace Contemporary Art in Grey Lynn. The exhibition, Cut from the Cloth, will be showing from the 26th of January until the 14th of February, 2020. The opening function will be on the 26th from 2pm-4.30pm.

The focus of Parke's practice is currently directed at the deep-rooted tradition of figurative painting. It’s the combination of the historical gravitas inherent in the genre, plus the truly human stories or connections that are unique to figurative art; these are the things that inspire him to paint people.

Parke completed his MFA in 2019. Whitecliffe MFA students are enrolled in New Zealand’s premier low-residency postgraduate visual arts programme. They experience intelligent debate, rigorous critique, and high quality encounters with exceptional artists from New Zealand and overseas, graduating with the skills to become leaders in their chosen field.
