School of Fashion + Sustainability

Claire Palmer started her career in the fashion industry after graduating from Wellington Polytechnic. This was short-lived as she was soon to discover the world of 'Costume".

She has since gained over 30 years of extensive experience working in the costume industry, both in the Arts, and Film and Television.

Her costume career began in the wardrobe department of The Royal New Zealand Ballet Company as Head of Wardrobe, overseeing costume production for many ballets and opera. After moving into television, she went on to win two 'Qantas Media' awards for costume design whilst working for TVNZ. She particularly enjoys the challenges of fast turnaround productions.

Claire now enjoys sharing her wealth of knowledge with her students and has been teaching them the foundation skills they need for their future in the Fashion Industry.
