“I am doing a three-month internship at ABUS Security Centre in Germany, in their in-house design team,” says Graphic Design graduate Joanna Longbottom.
Joanna graduated at the end of 2012. A friend who worked for ABUS recommended she apply for an internship there, so she emailed her digital portfolio to the creative director and was accepted.
“I’m mainly working on concepts for a parallax landing page for one of their products. But I also do smaller jobs such as making name badges, editing photos, Christmas card designs, and making illustrations for next year’s calendar,” she says.
One of the most valuable things Joanna learned at Whitecliffe was to think about concept over style – that it’s not enough to simply be able to use the Adobe Creative Suite.
“Whitecliffe gave me the time and guidance to develop my thinking about design and that has been really helpful for me at ABUS” Joanna says.
