Carrie Skeen BA Design (Vis Comm), MAAT, AThR, ANZATA
Carrie completed the MAAT (Clinical) in 2008 and currently works as a School Counsellor at an Auckland primary school and runs the Arts Therapy NZ Trust; a not-for-profit organization providing arts therapy services and programmes to children, adolescents and their families.
Carrie’s thesis was titled ‘Art Making and Reflection; children and the therapist’ and explored self-esteem building with a group of children and the importance of reflection by the art therapist in order to gain insight and empathy into the facilitation of the group. This research has informed Carrie’s professional practice and is the basis for the Creative Kids! School term and holiday programmes and ARTiculate; an arts therapy programmes specifically for at-risk youth.
