Jill McIntosh attended the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts from 1977-80 and studied printmaking under Barry Cleavin, completing an Honours year. She gained her MFA from Auckland University’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 2006. Jill has been extensively involved in New Zealand arts, setting up Printworkshop, a printmaking facility for artists at the Wellington Arts Centre in 1982, receiving a Major Travel/Study grant by the Arts Council(Creative New Zealand) to work and study in America and Britain in 1985, was Education Curator at Wellington City Art Gallery from 1986 -1990, and in 1987 edited Contemporary New Zealand Prints, published by Allen and Unwin, after curating a series of printmaking exhibitions at the Wellington City Gallery. She has shown regularly at Bowen Gallery in Wellington and is in the National Art Collection at Te Papa as well as being in other important collections. Jill has taught objective drawing in the Year One core programme at Whitecliffe since 2010.
