Sonya Lacey gained her MFA (1st Class Honours) in 2007 from Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland University. She frequently exhibits throughout New Zealand and overseas and is one of New Zealand’s leading emerging artists. Sonya was recently included in the prestigious exhibition The New Artists Show 2009 at Artspace in Auckland, and she was a founding member of the artist run space Newcall gallery. Recent shows include Making Things Clear at The Physics Room, Christchurch, and Hands Across the Sea, Victor & Hester, Glasgow. She has been a Lecturer in Graphic Design at Whitecliffe since 2008, and teaches objective drawing in the Year One core programme.
