Introduction to Drawing

DRAWING

TUTOR: DAPHNE SIMONS

This introduction to drawing course is great for beginners or anybody who would like to improve the way they observe objects and their everyday surroundings. Through a range of enjoyable drawing exercises, you will learn techniques for analyzing and understanding this visual language.
Topics include; memory vs reality, negative spaces, lines & shared edges, tone, mark-making, media experiments, perspective & proportion, self-directed projects, and an introduction to life drawing. Observational drawing is closely connected to the basics of perception, and with practice, this class will aim to strengthen general skills such as; attentiveness, patience and improvisation. The majority of classes will provide objects and images for drawing but for some exercises, students are encouraged to bring source material (objects or images).

THE 6 WEEKS COURSE WILL RUN OVER 7 WEEKS FROM THURSDAY EVENING 20 JULY TO THURSDAY 31 AUGUST (NO CLASS ON 10 AUGUST)

EACH CLASS WILL START AT 6PM AND FINISH AT 9PM.
