Photo Media Students Shortlisted for NZ Photobook of the Year Awards

Year 4 Whitecliffe Photo Media students Shelley Ashford and Georgia Periam are finalists in the New Zealand Photobook of the Year Awards Self-published category. The winner will be announced at the inaugural Photobook New Zealand event on March 11th in Wellington and receives a prize of $2,000 cash and $5,000 in Momento Pro printing. Judges for the award include photographer/lecturer David Cook, photographer Harvey Benge, gallerist Paul McNamara, Photoforum Director Geoffrey Short and Open Lab Massey University Director Anna Brown.

The shortlisted student photobooks Some kind of life in dying by Shelley Ashford and The Inbetween by Georgia Periam were self-published as part of the Photo Media Department's new curriculum, introducing the photobook format for the first time to Year 3 students . Shelley and Georgia presented their photobooks at the Whitecliffe Year 3 end-of-year event on 13-14 November 2015.

We wish both students the best of luck!
