Christina Read Awarded 2016 Olivia Spencer Bower Foundation Art Award

Whitecliffe Lecturer Christina Read has been awarded the 2016 Olivia Spencer Bower Foundation Art Award.

Since 1987, the Olivia Spencer Bower Award has built a reputation as one of the most valuable and prestigious forms of sponsorship available to New Zealand artists. The Art Awards offers financial assistance to promote artists with emphasis on future artistic potential. The award gives the opportunity for the recipient to work from a studio in The Physics Room, Christchurch for one year pursuing their own direction, free from the necessity to seek outside employment.

Christina will use this exciting opportunity as the Olivia Spencer Bower 2016 recipient to extend her ideas around self-help and personal endeavours, digressions, distractions, and the philosophical quandaries of the mind.

We congratulate Christina on her achievement!
