Henry Symonds Exhibits in South Africa Henry Symonds, Dean of Instruction and Undergraduate Studies, recently created 11 still life paintings and shipped them to his native South Africa for his first solo exhibition in the country for more than twenty years. The exhibition at Deon Viljoen Fine Art ran for the last week of January. Academic Registrar, Jacquie Phipps wrote of Henry’s work in the exhibition catalogue “In Symonds’ work, space, objects, ideas and responses are distilled into remarkable surfaces, intricate and varied skins of paint made of gesture and brushstroke.”
