Three Fashion Design students gained valuable overseas experience interning for a Taipei-based company for two weeks in July. Lavi Hsu, Sojung Lim and Jackie Lim currently in Year Three spent part of their term break with Popple Group Ltd, who manufacture, import and distribute a number of different labels. The three visited a commercial fabric printing factory, spent time with the marketing department photographing products to be used online, and spent the rest of their time with Hires, one of Popple’s three in-house labels.
While with the Hires team, Lavi, Sojung and Jackie designed a collection separately and were able to select one of their designs to produce. Lavi and Jackie made backpacks while Sojung produced an over-the-shoulder handbag. All three found the workroom experience valuable and had good exposure to hardware and fastenings such as zips, eyelets, clips and D-rings, which they may incorporate into their Whitecliffe work.
