This June Year 4 Fashion Design students competed in the annual Whitecliffe Fashion Window Display competition, exhibiting their work either in the windows of leading clothing boutiques in Newmarket or at the Whitecliffe campus. The students were judged on their creative use of visual communication methodology and their ability to create a professional display. The judges were looking for the successful placement of mannequins, props and lighting, as well as, proportion and balance, producing an eye catching window with strong impact. New sponsor Sphere Design awarded first prize of a tailor’s form valued at $900 to Alana Barnes’ Art of Armour displayed in the window of Muse. Second place went to Samantha Chapman’s Ecdysis displayed in Workshop’s window. She was awarded a beautiful fashion book sponsored by window display artist Ton van de Veer. Third place received a fashion book from long term Whitecliffe sponsor and judge Glen Wilkin-Holland. This was awarded to Napur Patel’s It’s A Fine Line displayed in Charlie Brown’s window.
