Jessica Ellis Rowing Success

Third year BFA student Jessica Ellis recently competed at the New Zealand Rowing Nationals representing West End Rowing Club. Impressively, in only her third season rowing, Jess managed to secure two podium finishes. She came 3rd in the double and 3rd in the single at Nationals (and also came 1st in the North Island Champs). Her bronze placings saw her come achingly close to getting an Under 22 Trial for the New Zealand Representative Team (silver and gold get trials), which is now her goal for next season!

Under the tutelage of a new Swedish coach, over the summer Jess chalked up an impressive amount of training, sometimes twice a day, and often getting up at 4.45am! Her rowing training will continue throughout the year though her focus now is on completing her 3rd year at Whitecliffe. Congratulations to Jess on her great successes and all the best for future competitions!
