The Whitecliffe Fashion Show 2012, held at the Viaduct Event Centre, was a sold out event with standing room only tickets available on the night. As Fashion Gallery said “not even a Nicki Minaj concert across town could lessen the anticipation for WFS12, the annual showcase of Year 2, 3 and 4 Fashion Design students attending Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design.” The two hour runway show MC’d by Showroom 22 director Murray Bevan featured collections of 40 students in Years two, three and four, including the graduating works of 8 BFA (Fashion Design Major) students. Judging for the fashion show is always very difficult with such a high standard expected of all students exhibiting. They are not only judged on their final collections, their academic grades and work throughout the year are all factored into the judging decision.
There were several key industry figures in the crowd, including Whitecliffe major sponsor David Melrose of Melrose Designs, Liz Mitchell, Liz Findlay, Dianne Ludwig and the team from Zambesi.
