MA Arts Therapy

Two students from the current Whitecliffe MA Arts Therapy cohort, Tania Blomfield and Alecia Steel, recently hosted an art therapy exhibition “Finding the Hero Within” at Uxbridge Arts in Howick, Auckland. Amanda Levey, Director of Whitecliffe MAAT(Clinical) programme gave an opening address explaining the purpose of the show. The exhibition focused on raising awareness in the community of the struggle that people face in freeing themselves from the impact of experiencing domestic violence and sexual abuse. As well as a moving array of art works by both adults and children, the exhibition included helpful information pages informing viewers about arts therapy and its application within the programmes that Alecia and Tania have been running for Eastern Womens’ Refuge.
