SUHEE KANG WINS SPECIAL ARTS SCHOOLS AWARD

Congratulations to all of the 24 finalists who were selected to take part in the 2012 Eden Arts Art Schools Award, the second time the award has been offered. Faculty from all four major tertiary art institutions - Whitecliffe, Elam, AUT and UNITEC - selected their top six students to take part in the award. Those selected from Whitecliffe were Rosalind Horner, Sarah Carson, Suhee Kang, Sam Angrignon, Paris Kirby and Brendan Moran. Works ranged from installation and performance to paintings, drawings and photographic works. The overall winner was Ziggy Lever from AUT, who took home $5000. Last year the overall winner of the award was Whitecliffe’s Donna Summers. The Eden Arts Board also awarded a “board’s choice” discretionary award of $500 to Whitecliffe’s Suhee Kang for her charcoal on paper drawing Police Officers (above).
