Artist Billy Apple visited Whitecliffe in November and gave an engaging presentation. Apple spoke about specific projects and his philosophy and practice, including a recent exhibition (still on) at the Auckland law firm Minter Rudd Watts and Elison. Apple who is a pioneer of the conceptual art movement, in New York and in New Zealand discussed the business of being an artist. In 2008 he registered himself as a brand. As many know Apple has had a long artistic career, which has spanned many art and design disciplines and practices. As well as being an artist, he has also collaborated with advertising and graphic design companies as an advisor on campaigns and projects. His practice includes painting, sculpture, and installation, photo, film, text, and performance. He has worked with some of the best including Andy Warhol, and has shown work in major museums and art spaces internationally.
