Term 3 Workshop: Pin Hole Camera

The pinhole camera workshop in Term Three certainly bemused, enlightened and inspired many first year BFA students. Students were asked to engage with the conception and creation of the lens-less camera, and with the darkroom as the site for creative process. The reality: a week of trialing, testing, redesigning, working collaboratively with an allocated partner, learning the art of compromise, coping with time restrictions, and also the realisation that a beautiful image can be created from an amazing array of objects. These ranged from a cigarette packet, a Frisbee, to a washing machine inner bowl, all else that was required was a creative bent, a tiny hole, and photographic paper.
