FOUNDATION CERTIFICATE OF ARTS AND DESIGN - NCEA Level 4
One Year Bridging with English language support
Commencing Semester One - Mid February
International or domestic students with an IELTS of 4.5 (or equivalent) can enter the
full year Certificate of Arts and Design (Foundation). This
programme is designed to raise students' English levels to IELTS 5.0
before entering full time arts and design study in Semester Two. While enrolled in an approved English language programme students attend art and design classes at Whitecliffe two afternoons a week in Semester One. Acceptance into Semester Two of the Foundation programme is conditional upon students meeting the required English level (IELTS 5.0 or equivalent) English language testing can be conducted by the English language school that the student is / or will be attending.
Whitecliffe has articulation agreements with Kaplan International Colleges, and AIS St. Helens. Students enrolled in the One Year Foundation programme will choose one of these institutions for their English language study during Semester One

The only prerequisites for the semester two foundation certificate programme for International students (and domestic students with English as their second language). are
- Domestic applicants must be at least 17 years of age during their year of commencement.
- International students need an English Level of IELTS 5.0.
- International students must be at least 18 years of age in their first year of study to enter either programmes.

PATHWAY INSTITUTIONS
Whitecliffe has Pathway Agreements with the following institutions. Students enrolled in English language courses at these institutions will not be required to sit an IELTS examination. The English language testing at these institutions is recognised by Whitecliffe and students who successfully complete the IELTS equivalent courses at these institutions will meet the English language standard that is required for acceptance into the proposed programme of study.
